- What is Novenabeat?
- Novenabeat is a browser-based meditation tool that generates the nine Solfeggio frequencies — 174, 285, 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852, and 963 Hz — as pure mathematical sine waves in real time, with a binaural beat mode and a session builder for sequencing multi-frequency meditations.
- What are the nine Solfeggio frequencies?
- The nine Solfeggio frequencies are 174, 285, 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852, and 963 Hz. Six (396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852) derive from a medieval hymn to St. John the Baptist; three (174, 285, 963) were added in modern Solfeggio traditions.
- Do I need headphones?
- Headphones are essential for Binaural mode, because each ear must receive a slightly different frequency for the perceived beat to form. Pure Sine mode works through speakers, but headphones still give the cleanest experience.
- What is the difference between Pure Sine and Binaural mode?
- Pure Sine plays a single clean tone equally in both ears. Binaural mode plays the base frequency in one ear and a slightly higher frequency in the other, so the brain perceives a third "beat" frequency equal to the difference — set between Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma brainwave bands.
- How is this different from a Solfeggio playlist?
- Most Solfeggio audio online is pre-recorded at approximate frequencies. Novenabeat generates each tone live in the browser as a mathematically exact sine wave via the Web Audio API, so the pitch is precise rather than an approximation.
- Is Novenabeat free to use?
- Yes. Novenabeat runs free in any modern browser at novenabeat.com. No download, sign-up, or installation is required.
- Why is there no sound on my iPhone or iPad?
- The most common cause is the physical silent switch on the side of the device. When it shows orange, iOS mutes all web-page audio regardless of the media volume. Flick the switch to the off (no orange) position, raise the volume, and refresh the page. If you're using headphones, also make sure they're selected as the output and unmuted.
- What's a good starting volume and session length?
- Start around 25–35% — pure sine waves carry more energy than music at the same loudness, so going easy is gentler on the ears. Five minutes per frequency is a balanced session length; longer if you want to settle deeper. Keep the volume moderate, especially in Binaural mode.
- Does Novenabeat work offline?
- Yes. After your first visit, the service worker caches the app shell so the page loads and the audio engine runs entirely offline. You can also install Novenabeat as a Progressive Web App from your browser's install menu — it adds to your home screen and launches in standalone mode.
- Will the audio play if my screen locks?
- Mobile browsers generally suspend audio when the screen locks or the browser is backgrounded. For uninterrupted sessions, keep the screen awake (iOS: Settings → Display → Auto-Lock → Never, or equivalent on Android), or install Novenabeat as a PWA which has slightly better background-audio behaviour on some devices.
